Statue of Liberty Dedication Day National Chocolate Day 1492 - Christopher Columbus landed in Cuba on his first voyage to the New World. 1726 - The novel Gulliver's Travels is published. 1886 - President Cleveland dedicates the Statue of Liberty. 1955 - Bill Gates was born. He is an American business magnate, investor, author, philanthropist and humanitarian. He was the pioneer of the microcomputer revolution of the 70s and 80s and the principal founder of the Microsoft Corporation. He has served as Chairman, CEO and Chief Software Architect of Microsoft. Until 2014 he was the largest single shareholder. His net worth is estimated at $95.4 billion...the 2nd richest in the world behind Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO. 1967 - Julia Roberts was born. She is an American actress and producer. Pretty Woman (1960) established her as a leading lady. Pretty Woman grossed $464 million at the box office worldwide. She has won 3 Golden Globes and 1 Academy Award for Best Actress for Erin Brockovich. She is one of the most bankable actresses in Hollywood...her movies have grossed over $2.5 billion. I read about the dedication of the Statue of Liberty this morning. I always get a kick seeing it when we’re in that area of the city or cruising past it. I saw the smaller one in Paris.
