What's a good gift for an enemy?

My granduncle once told us that if you have an enemy, give him a car.
It was baffling, of course, but later on, I did see the wisdom of the old in that seemingly outrageous statement.
I was out the other day getting my car's wheel bearing and brake pad changed. Sigh. Cost me a fortune. My budget for subsistence was depleted on the first week of the month.
Cars, really!

In my circle, the best gift for an enemy is to bring him to the race track and teach him how to bet on horses. But that's just an adage. I guess it is best to bring him to the casino.

Oh my. We do really hate our enemies, huh, that we would want to see them severely suffering.
Yeah, bring him to the casino! (Problem is, I have never tried a slot machine. Saw those things only in movies and pictures.) My plan could ricochet back to me. Hu hu

@Alexandoy I love words, too.
Whenever people stop to listen to what I'm saying, it's like I am using the language of saints. Ha ha.

I'd never heard of that saying. I guess that makes sense. Cars are expensive to maintain.

That's my great uncle, the younger brother of my grandpa. He became wealthy with the copra industry. Never left home. Delighted at the automobile, and how expensive it was to maintain the car.
