A miracle story born out of the Death March.

The Death March was probably the most punishing that happened in the Philippines during World War II. Filipinos and Americans made a strong stand in Bataan but unfortunately, the Japanese forces were more formidable. Thus, the Fall of Bataan. From which followed the infamous Death March from Bataan to Tarlac, a walk through rice fields under the heat of the scorching sun. Many perished. This miracle story happened half a century after that Death March. Rolled tears down my cheeks.

@eileenleyva I am sorry what happened in the Phillipines during World War Two. It was very hard all those that lost someone. I know because Jews also lost all their families were not believed what was happening to them during World War 2. I am sorry for all of yours that suffered and I am very very sorry for my people that suffered and lost so much and happy for those that survived. It was a very very hard War for so many.

The darkest years in world history, that war was. Let us remember in our hearts those whose lives were curtailed senselessly, especially the children and the youth who were just beginning to live their lives. That war was most grim.

@Hannihar I do think that war was meant to repress the Jews, because, believe it or not, I do think the Jews are the brainiest of all races. In business, the Jews are far subtle but more successful than the Chinese Also in other fields. Literature? Just read the books of Moses and one is in for the greatest stories, and laws and numbers. The world may continue to find reasons to condescend the Jews, but where is that madman now? There's a documentary on netflix and I intend to watch the series.

@eileenleyva it was a horrible period in our lives. Our survivors are dying off now but there are recordings of them and there are their families left to remind us of the. We have a Holocaust Remembrance Day here in Israel around May and the only thing on the TV for the whole day deals with the Holocaust and survivors talk about their stories. Not only is the day hard but the whole period was very hard and that is why as many that were captured and dealth with is good.

That is a very very good man who insisted on getting that message from the son“s Father across to his own son. Hard to believe that the relative would not give any message to the son himself.

Several factors impeded the Promise to be carried out such as distance, difficulty in communication, distrust, to name a few. What mattered was the delivery of the Promise half a century late. Just the same, the soldier and the son both came full circle.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Most often, the past does create a definitive mark on our person, our behavior, our attitude, our viewpoints in life. It is never easy, I believe, to know nothing about one's past, especially the parentage thing, and family. That's a good promise kept.

@eileenleyva The great thing is that old wounds are coming up to heal all thanks to those two so they can reconcile with the past in a good way and Spain also has this going on looking for their relatives in roadside graves but without knowing where they are as such. I imagine that where you live there would be something like that also.

@LindaOHio Gripped the senses when we studied that part of history in school. Did listen to the nonagenarians personal accounts, even more morbid than how the textbooks narrated the story.
