Unexciting Titles.

Been mylotting for a decade now but only last Sunday did my younger daughter, home from hospital work, finally caught a glance of my internet activity.
She was playing with the dog right behind me and caught a sentence I was typing for a response. "What are you writing?," she asked. I answered, "A response to a comment."
She leaned and read my entire reply and commented "Corny, Ma, your sentence is too much." I retaliated and explained that I need to put clarity in all my responses, else the mylotters might misread my work.
"Okay," she said, "let me see your work." And I clicked on my discussions and scrolled down, proud of each and every discussion. I told her that I don't get as many responses like the others, though, because I am serious with the exchange of ideas, unlike the others who respond trivially, just for the pay."
She looked closer, then said, "Nah, you don't get responses because your titles are unexciting."
Duh!

I wouldn't invite her. She is very frank and straightforward. Many would cry.
Besides, she has no time for mylot, she's on to her third year of residency. Exams coming up soon.

@rsa101 OB-Gyn is a toxic department. Women deliver babies hour on the hour. My daughter is like a spin top, from DR to wards to OR.
I couldn't even have an in-depth conversation with her. She's asleep whenever she's home, except for last Sunday.
In time, perhaps, she would want to read my work.
Thank you, dear friend.

This isn't the case. It is the content and your interaction level which matters the most

That is true as far as the serious mylotters are concerned. Sadly, many have turned mylot into an every day journal.
It is all right to talk about fine days or stormy days or snowy days, but if that occurs every so often in a week's time, we could be reminded of Jane Austen's advice, talk about the weather if there's none important to say.

@eileenleyva yes..but these are just passive earnings. Try to focus and interact with the regular mylotters. They will in turn respond to your posts

Have you come up with a comparative profile of cultures?

Oh, so now you are thinking about how to make your titles exciting?

Don't let her discourage you. Your titles are fine.

Not at all. Criticism is a positive thing. Whereas my daughter finds my sentences a bit elaborate, I could not, I said, compromise clarity.
Oh well!, she shrugged.

I did realize that. People respond to casual stuff. Comments like That's nice! isn't really much of a conversation. No idea, nothing to carry on. Sigh
Yet, it has somehow become an advocacy to encourage people to think and learn, so I share as much of my knowledge as I can.
I have seen mylotters copy my topic without ever responding to my discussion. That's all right, perhaps they need the money more.
I do not veer away from politics and religion, these two topics have been subjects of discussion since time immemorial. Politics from the ancient Greeks have been spread worldwide, philosophers have engaged in exciting debates, just for us to see world leaders now despicable and evil. As for religion, I have kept my Catholic Faith, the only said religion that holds our Lord Jesus Christ's Resurrection, and no other religion could claim that.
