Slumlord in the bronx

I was reading a story about a slumlord/landlord that owns an apartment building. The problem is it is infested with rodents and other things. A tenant asked them multiple times to take care of the issue and did not receive a response. The tenant called the city to report the landlord and was told by the idiot that if they called and reported again , they would be evicted with their small children. I remember the movie the super with joe pesci. The same concept about a slumlord. The judge made him live in one of his apartments until he resolved the issue. I think this person in the bronx needs to live in one of these rodent infested apartments and see how it feels. photo credit: google

Why did the tenant or the city tell the landlord who complained if the whole building needs attention would be my question to those people. That isn't right though but what is right for a slumlord. It might be difficult but moving might be a better option for them, you think?

I think the tenants fear the landlord and do not have the funds to move

@Metsrock69 There is not much they can do if the city doesn't come down on the landlord. Not paying the rent to save enough for a new place will only get you evicted and a bad credit rating.
