This is a question a saw today on Facebook in one of my groups. Should grandparents have visitation rights?
This is my view in grandparents. No they don’t get visitation rights because 1 they are not the parents the grandparents. The time of when they get to see there grandkids is based on the parents. Because not all parents want the grandparents involved because they might not be a good influence it might be more harmful to the child/ren.
My kids love there grandparents but they have been times in the pass we have said no to them seeing there parents like big parties where drinking and random people we don’t know will be around.

I loved my grandparents and even my great grandparents and we were never prohibited to see them. In fact there was a time when my mom's parents lived with us and we loved it. And I remember bringing snacks every afternoon to my great grandmother when she was still alive. I would walk about 2km to her home carrying with me some biscuits and soda to bring to my great grandma.

It’s not about if you love being with them or not it’s about what is best. Growing up my grandparent were not allowed to see much why because would do what my parents didn’t want them to. Like give a baby bottle when it was time for silly cups or once my grandmother dropped my brother into the bathtub and ousted his head open enough to have stictches. Visitation with grandparents by law are not required it’s a parents chocie.
As much as my kids love there grandparents it’s at our chocie when the kids are allowed to. Why because they are mine and my husband’s kids and our kids free time doesn’t fall when there grandparents are free nor do they always try to make time for my kids so I don’t bother to try to let them see the kids till we are all ready. Also a grandparent had no rights to try to make visitation rights when they have no prenatal rights towards there grandkids.

@ShyBear88 My grandparents never insisted on having visitation rights. It was my parents who insisted they stay with us. We were fortunate that my grandparents didn't harm us in anyway whether intuitionally or not.
I am not saying I am for visitation rights. I'm not saying I'm against it either. I just didn't have a bad experience with my own grandparents.
