Friends

I'm finding the older I get, the less I need a lot of friends and instead need good ones. I've had my feelings hurt by several "friends" in the last year and am slowly realizing that it's ok to let them and their stuff go! These are people I trusted and confided in, but from here forward it is all about family and those few close friends that have NEVER given me a reason to doubt their friendship or motivations. Anyone else struggle with finding friends that stay true?

I have one true friend. We have been friends since 4th grade.

Been there, done that. I’m contented with having few True friends. Sometimes, The smaller friends you have, the lesser the worries.

It's not then number of friends you have, it's having even just a single friend you can call your family.

I think things change as you get older. I used to have lots of "friends", or so I thought, but now I realise they were just acquaintances. They will disappear and only the true friends will stick by you. I would say I only have 3 good friends that I know would always help me out if I was in trouble, the rest are just fairweather friends.

I do not seek out friends. Have no desire to.

I never had a lot of friends, even growing up. At most I had 3 very close friends, and then a bunch of other friends that just happened to hang out with my close friends. Staying friends with people are very hard as an adult because we are either too busy or we find out the real opinions behind people and realize how toxic they are. 3 years ago I said goodbye to my best friend of 15 years and even though it hard to do, it wasn't the decision that made it difficult because I realized she had turned out to be a toxic person. We don't have time for toxicity and drama. Have an inner circle and that's it.

I can relate to what you have mentioned here since my relatives are my real friends.

The older I get the less tolerance I have for drama. I only have a few friends and I am fine with that. The less people I have in my life the less drama I have to deal with. I have been betrayed by people I truly trusted and thought were my friends and since then I am very careful about who I allow to get close to me.

For me, friends come and go. I try to be happy with myself. I have my family though.

Yes. I only have a few ones. I'm struggling to find real friends. Most of them are just party friends, some are fake, some are only good while you're still beneficial to them.
