The Sycamore Tree

The old priest who gives me cracked Hosts in Communion is back. He said he went on a journey to Galilee to see the Bible come alive before his very eyes.
The tour team guide of which the old priest was part of, paused long enough before a sycamore tree. No, it was not the same tree that Zacchaeus climbed to see Jesus, for that tree would have not lasted two thousand years, but the guide said it was important, for the sycamore was a symbol of a man of wealth and stature in life - a tax collector and .a scribe.
As the story goes, our Lord Jesus invited Himself to Zacchaues house, thus, perhaps, our Lord received wide eyes and crooked brows from his disciples. Why enter a sinner's house?!
Being sinners, too, we know the answer to that. Our Lord Jesus welcomes sinners to sainthood.
Shall we now begin looking for our sycamore tree to climb?

Brainchild of an old priest preaching to budding young men responding to a calling.
Privileged to sit somewhere behind, a nourishment for my sometimes troubled soul.

That is brilliant. So that was what the old priest meant when he said 'the Gospel coming alive.' If ever I am there, there would be goosebumps on my arms. I love reliving the story of our Lord, especially the Sacrifice.

It's very meaningful; Jesus went to Zacchaues' house; a very humbling act!

Our Lord has a staunch convert in Zacchaeus - from a traitor of a tax collector, he gave to the deprived half his wealth, and to those he abused in usury, he paid four times back.
Hmmm. The effect of our Lord on the corrupt, huh.
