A scarcity mindset is rooted in fear

My son and I live together and we buy food for the home. That's simple and easy. Well one day at work, I'd remembered some pizza that was in the refrigerator and I figured I'd have that to eat when I got home. All was well until I got home, opened the refrigerator and saw that the pizza was gone. I was upset, disappointed, and overall mad because my mouth was set on that pizza! My son, very lovingly and calmly looked at me and said, "Calm down. That was not the last pizza on earth. You can get another one." I gave him a hug and told him that he was right and I was wrong to think I'd never eat pizza again. At that moment, I realized that I had to stop seeing lack and start seeing abundance. I may not have had the pizza but I did have food to eat. From now on, my glass will always be full.

LOL! He did. I guess he felt bad and the next weekend he bought my own pizza.

I find this situation rather strange. It's usually the parent who teaches the child and not the other way round.

We should always be in a position to learn. My son is well mature beyond his years and he's extremely intelligent. He has a better grasp on emotional intelligence than I do. At the same time, the most important thing he has is patience and understanding. He's able to extend grace. When I saw all of that in action in him, my heart changed. I enjoy learning, even if it is from an unlikely teacher.

Oh donĀ“t we all know that feeling too. Not so much a mindset of lack but of wanting to eat your favourite food. The lack mindset is in all of us in some way or another. My kids are more lazy they would be waiting for me to cook the pizza for them.

Your son was very wise to have said that. I should be reminded about the same thing once in awhile too.

His wisdom stopped me in my tracks! As upset as I was, he made a lot of sense.

I think you have the right attitude, I'm pretty sure with that kind of mindset you would get more than just pizza in the future.
