The Mountains and The Beach : Retirement Communities

United States

My friends and I like to tag each other in posts we've seen about beautiful places. The most recent is a three story house somewhere here in NC that is on a lot of acres and is almost doll house like. It has octagonal rooms and hardwood floors. Plenty of space to do whatever we'd like with. One friend tagged me and another and then began tossing ideas of what we would do and how we would change things. The mirrors in one room would have to go. It's one of the octagonal rooms and is most likely small hence why there are mirrors. We all agree that a farm house sink would be a must for the kitchen. We'd replace the bath tubs with senior friendly tubs and showers. That's just a few of the things in our little hypothetical situation. Do you ever dream about living in a commune with friends and family? Or would you rather retire with just a few around you?

We've already discussed that when the kids are grown and move out were gonna get a camper and drive cross country. Our house is paid for so I couldn't imagine us moving somewhere else

That would be nice. A friend and her husband have considered doing that as well. I think I would want to buy a school bus and fit it out the way I wanted it. A lot of work and money that way though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum we've thought about that too because whatever we get will need to haul the four wheelers.

@thislittlepennyearns I've seen some really creative ways of outfitting a bus to be a home. My ex had one of those campers that you attach to a truck, and then behind the camper he had a trailer he hitched to carry his golf cart when he'd go picking in another State.

Yes, just a few. That's all I need. When we talk about this, we consider only ourselves and our spouses (Well I'm single at the moment so..)
