The transportation cost in my personal experience and estimate has tripled in our country. The cost of groceries have doubled. My fare from work which used to be 5pesos is now 18 pesos. My favorite snack has doubled in price. And especially rice which is our main staple, as well has fish has more than doubled.

Everything here has gone up but still affordable. When I was in Pinas last time, I was shocked of how the food cost there. Some are even expensive than here in Germany. The price of the pork meat is the same here in Germany.

I guess partly because of increase of VAT from 10 to 12% and inclusion of petroleum products in vatable goods.

I have no idea, but I was surprised to see that STAMPS here had gone up to 55 cents per stamp.

In general, the price of our goods and services do increase each year. In my opinion is due to large demand from the buyer and seller increase the price due to able to get more profit. This should be the rules of supply and demand. In 2015, the goods and services tax (GST) imposed in our country while the sales and services tax (SST) was abolished. In this time, we saw a huge increased in all the goods and services as 6% was being deemed to a huge percentage on the purchase price by the consumer. We all suffered at that time. Later on in 2018, GST again was being replaced by to the former SST while maintaining the 6%. Although some goods were being excluded from by the price did not reduced. So you can imagine that once the price increase it never fall, except the demand drop significantly across all industry.

That is true. Once it goes up. it doesn't come back right where it was despite lower costs. This is the same with transportation fare here.

@yoalldudes Yes although the government did set maximum price for certain basic foods but still the price is based on the latest one.

I basically buy the same food items every Thursday and all items have gone up 10-15 cents except beef which has gone up $1-$3 a pound! And fish is now in the price range of better beef cuts! Transportation costs have at least doubled!

10-15% increase is rather low which is good.

Same here. Rice the staple food is three times costlier. Nothing is cheaper except human lives.
