I have just finished reading a book called ` The Remains of the Day' which was written by Kazuo Ishiguro in 1989. So obviously it is quite an old book , I found it on a second hand book stall and despite its age, it is still in reasonable reading condition. Since being written , it has been made into a movie that I would now like to see.
It is a story told by the main character who has spent his life working as a butler in a stately home. The story is set between the first and second world wars in England. We get to meet the owners of the house, one of which was a Lord and the other was an American gentleman. It is a very atmospheric story and you can imagine yourself in the butlers parlour and you can build up a picture of what it would have been like to be a member of staff in one of these houses.
It is also a story of lost love between the butler and the housekeeper who has developed a crush on him because they are working close to each other. But he puts his job first and nothing comes of it and you end up feeling sorry for the housekeeper.

No, he was not interested in her because he was more interested in his job and did not want a wife. However, she did marry somebody else , but she could never forget about the butler.

It was because it makes the reader think about what it must have been like to live during those years.

@lazydaizee I am really so busy, my friend. I have not targeted some of my personal goals before the end of this year.

Maybe it is nice to be so busy that you do not have time to read.
