Holiday blues...

Not crazy about this time of year. It use to be so full of joy and family and laughter and feeling loved... I married the love of my life this date...many years ago...(won't say how many because it makes me feel really old) lol.. The marriage ended years ago but the emotion of our first love never leaves. And... most of my kin/relatives are gone now either at the cemetery or in another state.... So I have to keep busy doing ordinary things to make it feel like an ordinary day. I hope all of you have a good day, or at the very least, a comfortable, ordinary day..:-) This too shall pass! lol

I also am not crazy about the holidays, my kids are grown and moved away and everyone else does their own thing. I also don't enjoy it because of the stress it caused for me. I am now on a fixed income and the added expense of trying to buy presents just stressed me out, I knew I couldn't spend much because I still had to get by. A few years ago, I finally quit with the whole buying presents thing. My kids totally understand and said they don't blame me at all.

@EeWhan That's how I look at it to anymore. I think what really ended for me was buying gifts and knowing they didn't appreciate them to start with. So it ended the year that one of my granddaughters didn't even bother to take what I got her when she left my house.

@sweetashoney wow..well that's a good signal then, huh? lol.. I mean a person spends money buying a gift for a person who might not even like it! I told my kids, go buy yourself something you want, pretend its from me..and I will do the same! Problem solved. lol

Yes life sure does change as the years go along. And I really don't miss the stress you are talking about like buying things we can't afford and being served food we can't eat, and to tell the truth there were times when I was not looking forward to all the talk about who was doing what. So to treat it like any other day is,in its own way, a relief! lol

Christmas isn't what it once was I agree. I hope my son will have a child one of these days though. It would be so nice to have a little one around again.

I will do the same when New Year's Eve will come. I don't like holidays. I will be home alone.

I have found just going to a public place, a market or maybe a Second hand store is very relaxing! Lots of people around, smiles.. touching things.. and nothing being asked of me.. not bad!
