Did you have a big or private wedding? Are you planning a wedding? Big or small? What drives people to have a big wedding instead of making a nice down payment on a house or car on a one day expensive party with a lot of things that are a one time use?

I didn't have a crazy crazy big wedding, but it wasn't intimate either. I think like 80 guests or so. I loved my wedding day. Celebrating 10 years married in Feb.

I'm never married but if ever I will, I'd rather keep it simple and private.

I wanted a small wedding of about 100, but my mother had different plans. We had 234 guests at our wedding, exactly what she wanted. Its not always what the bride and groom wish for, or it wasn't back in the late 80's when we married. My Dad still wrote us a very handsome 5 digit cheque when we bought our first home. Our son had exactly 9 guests, and although I though that couldn't be done properly, I was wrong. It was a very touching and personal wedding, of course being the mother of the groom makes me biased, but we all felt the love in the air.

We had a small wedding in a little chapel in Honolulu, Hawaii, then a reception at the NCO club on base. That was 53 years ago. I think it's foolish to spend a fortune on a wedding.

I like to have a big wedding so that I can invite my friends and people who are close to me.But private is also okay,my wedding before is private only very few who are there to attend and witness that.
