"Elf" is a Christmas comedy which was released in 2003. With a budget of $33 million, it brought in $220 million worldwide at the box office. It's often listed as one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time. CAST Will Ferrell - Buddy James Caan - Walter Bob Newhart - Papa Elf Edward Asner - Santa Mary Steenburgen - Emily Zooey Deschanel - Jovie Daniel Tay - Michael 30 years prior to the events in the movie: A baby crawls into Santa's sack at an orphanage; and Santa takes the baby back to the North Pole. When the baby is discovered, it is decided that Papa Elf will raise him. The baby, named Buddy, is not aware that he is human until his large size and poor toy-making abilities cause Papa Elf to tell him the truth. Papa Elf tells Buddy that he was born to Walter Hobbs and Susan Wells and placed for adoption. Walter never knew Buddy was born; and he now works for a children's book company in New York City. Buddy sets out to find his father. If you want to know what happens, you will have to watch the movie. This is such a wonderful and funny film. You will enjoy Buddy's naivete as he discovers new and exciting things in New York City and his strange preferences in food. Some say this was Ferrell's best performance of his career.
