This story is kind of unusual since the Hershey Bears who are the minor league branch of the Washington Nationals asked their fans to throw on the ice at the Giant Arena stuffed bears onto the ice when the first goal of the ice hockey game versus the Binghamton Devils a few days ago. What happened when the home team scored their first goal of the ice hockey game was on the Bears promotion called the Teddy Bear Toss which is when stuffed teddy bears would be tossed on the ice, the stuffed teddy bears would be donated to children's charities around the Hershey area. The Bears fans hurled over 45,000 stuffed bears on the ice which delayed the game for about 40 minutes when the officials in the arena picked up the stuffed bears that are going to be donated to over 40 children's charities so they can enjoy their holidays. The Bears won the ice hockey game in overtime by a final score of 4-3. However the children's charities came out as winners that night. What I have noticed about minor league sports is that they need gimmicks to attract fans to the sports arenas every year. A Teddy Bear toss for charity is one wonderful way for fans to pitch in to assist local charities in their home cities.

I tried to watch ice hockey but I never understood the game played on an ice rink.

That is one the good deal of sports in both the minor and major league levels. The charities get some huge checks from both the fans and the players to assist them help the needy get their needs met.
