I am doing that thing again where I review the book before I finish it. This time, however,I can't really guess how it might end. This review is more a list of things I've observed while reading it. I will try to keep the discussion as short as possible, but I may include a TL;DR (too long ; didn't read) at the bottom either way. I like the style of the book, it's in narrative form, except for some chapters that is in a bit of a journalistic / ponderous form. It work well together. The chapters that are journalistic are introducing you to a character that you, the reader, will assume or suspect is someone that fits in well with one of the main character's cases. There is something that you find out towards the end of the book that might be disturbing to some. I know I've told a few people here about this book, including @Marty1 (tagging you to get your attention on this in case I forget to tell you later), but that was before I knew of this theme. It's such a small part of the book, but it might be disturbing to some. This is more of a grievance here, and it may well wind down to me and not necessarily anyone else. However, there are so many people mentioned in the book that sometimes I find myself confused as to who they are. There has been one or two people mentioned that at first I think are new characters, but are in fact people we've seen before. I usually realize this shortly thereafter, but it's still a bit disconcerting. It wouldn't stop me from reading this book now, or re-reading it in the future. I only have two chapters left to read. Each chapter is atleast 20 minutes long. TL;DR : Overall the book is good. It does talk about one incident that might trigger some people. I would read it again

What's it about? You told us very little about the content.

Sorry, I didn't say much about the content because I thought the discussion was getting too long. The book's setting is Victorian England (London to be more specific) and the main character is a detective. The beginning of the book has similarities to Sherlock Holmes, but really the only thing that ties them together is their profession.
