Mad enough to want to spit fire.

The damage to my Filter Queen vacuum cleaner
United States

Let me tell you about something I have been upset about since right after Thanksgiving. Before anyone says anything, yes, I am one of those crazy people that spent a lot of money on a Filter Queen vacuum cleaner and the Defender (an air purifier). I paid well over $1000.00 for them. These are the ones that are sold door to door. I think two of the reasons I bought them was, my vacuum was old and didn't pick up good and I could make monthly payments on this. Now this is the reason I am upset. Last year I was talked into buying a Kirby, so my daughter asked to borrow my Filter Queen. So she has been using my vacuum for a year. Since it had been a while since I had been to her house,I would ask her ever so ofter when she called me, if she was making sure to change the filters. There are two of them, one to protect the motor and one goes in the tub. She would always say yes mom. Well everything was fine until I went to her house for Thanksgiving. I had spent the night and the next day I seen my vacuum sitting in the livingroom, so I lifted the top off. Man was I shocked! You could tell she was reusing the same filter over and over again and I could see the motor. The plate that the motor cover screws into was busted loose. So I took the vacuum back home. Once home, I really got mad, there was around 1/8 in dirt on the filter that protects the motor and I knew It was going to need a new plate. Every bracket that the motor cover screws into was broke! The thing is, even with all that, she was still using it. It's a wonder that the motor wasn't burn up. This is one of them times that you hear the saying "mad enough to spit fire", well that was the point I was at. So I did order the part and hopefully I can fix it. Needless to say, she will not be getting that back. Have you ever let someone borrow something and they didn't take care of it. Mess like this is why I hate to let people borrow my stuff.

I'm so sorry, that's so sad when people don't care about stuff just because they didint buy them

I really think that's my daughter's case. The first thing she said when I seen it and she knew I was taking it home. "I won't have a way to vacuum my floor now". My son and I talked about this, when a person has nothing in it, yea, they don't care what happens to it. That's why it makes me so mad.

@samysotelo18 You are so right! The trouble is, she is like so many other people, she works hard, but she doesn't know how to save any money for things like that. She spends it as fast as she makes it.

@sweetashoney I understand, I mean she could work hard and afford her own vaccum. There's certainly a way she'd be able to clean her house
