This was the beginning of the California Gold Rush. 1966 - The musical I Do! I Do! opens in New York City and runs for 560 performances. 1932 - Little Richard (Richard Wayne Penniman) was born. He is a singer, songwriter, actor and pianist. His music was influential in the formation of rock and roll, soul and funk. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. In 2010 his song, Tutti Frutti (1955) was included in the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress which stated that his "unique vocalizing over the irresistible beat announced a new era in music".
