"King Kong" an epic monster adventure was released in 2005. It's the second remake of the 1933 film of the same name. Through the process of "motion capture" Andy Serkis was able to play Kong. The budget for the movie was $207 million with a return at the box office of $550.5 million. The film won three Academy Awards. CAST Naomi Watts - Ann Darrow Jack Black - Carl Denham Adrien Brody - Jack Driscoll Thomas Kretschmann - Captain Englehorn Colin Hanks - Preston Jamie Bell - Jimmy Andy Serkis - King Kong/Lumpy Evan Parks - Benjamin "Ben" Hayes Kyle Chandler - Bruce Baxter It's 1933 during the Great Depression in New York City; and Ann Darrow, an unemployed, starving vaudeville actress has just stolen an apple. Carl Denham, a financially-strapped filmmaker gives her a nickel, telling her that she must have "dropped it". Denham is looking for someone to star in his latest film project; but it has to be someone really special. Denham has a much easier time of persuading Ann when she finds out that the script is being written by her favorite playwright, Jack Driscoll. Aboard the tramp steamer, the S. S. Venture, Driscoll has just delivered the yet unfinished script to Denham. Carl starts writing him a check. In the meantime, the ship is cast off; and Jack is trapped on board. Denham figures that the script can now be finished. Denham pays the steamer captain, Englehorn, to go to Skull Island before completing his trip to Singapore. If you want to find out what happens, you will have to watch the movie. This is yet another good remake of the 1933 film; however, while technical advances have made Kong more real, I think the 2005 version still pales when compared with the original. There was something inherently sinister and scary about the 1933 movie...and I found Ann Darrow's tap routine a bit much! There were some negative comments about the film running for three hours. I did find it a bit long as well; but for the most part my interest was held. I feel about this 2005 version as I did about the 1976 and 1933 films...watch each one at least once and form your own opinions. This one meets my standards for a popcorn Saturday night. This movie is rated PG-13. Photo Credit: Pixabay

I think I let this dull version rumble on in the background.

King Kong is a real suspenseful movie adventure. Kong is really King, in a world that is his own. Puny humans must dare not thread.
