"Scrooged" is a Christmas comedy released in 1988 and based on the novella "A Christmas Carol" written in 1843 by Charles Dickens. CAST Bill Murray - Frank Cross Karen Allen - Claire Phillips John Forsythe - Lew Hayward John Glover - Brice Cummings Bobcat Goldthwait - Eliot Loudermilk David Johansen - Ghost of Christmas Past Carol Kane - Ghost of Christmas Present Robert Mitchum - Preston Rhinelander Francis "Frank" Cross is a cynical and conceited television programming executive and President of the TV network IBC. He has amassed great wealth and success by being cold-hearted and arrogant. His focus on his career has alienated his family except for his brother James who he keeps at arm's length. James still loves his brother and invites him over for Christmas. Frank overworks his assistant, forcing her to continuously change plans and neglect her mute son. Frank plans a live performance of "A Christmas Carol" -- and it's nothing like the original. He is not open to the spirit of Christmas but will the visit of three ghosts give him a change of heart? If you want to see what happens, you will have to watch the movie. This is definitely a movie that is an alternative to the traditional holiday fare. It's thoroughly modern and more than slightly skewed. I'm not a big Bill Murray fan; and this is not my favorite Christmas movie; but I think it's worth a watch. Carol Kane is hilarious as the Ghost of Christmas Present. If you're looking for something really different, give "Scrooged" a try. This movie is rated PG-13.
High-spirited high jinks on Christmas Eve put Frank Cross (Bill Murray) in a ghostly time warp in this hilarious take-off of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Ca...
