It's The Season, and Jesus is the Reason, something some tend to lose site of. So I, your favorite atheist, am doing a 17-song countdown of songs with "Jesus" in the title, even though they are apt to disappoint if you are searching for salvation. Just trying to do my part, keeping the name out there! We are at #15: "Christian Woman" by Type O Negative.
You are more than likely aware of the massively popular meme of a lady pointing and screaming at a smirking white cat named Smudge, who always has the perfect comeback. Here, the woman would be pointing and screaming "The name 'Jesus' doesn't appear in the title 'Christian Woman!'" To which Smudge says, "I found a loophole."
As in, for decades, prog rock bands have been breaking lengthy, epic songs into subtitles. For centuries, poets identified sections of long poems with canto's. Well, ha ha ha, it turns out that "Christian Woman" an epic, nine-minute goth-style tune with Beatles-esque harmonies, is subtitled into three canto's, the third of which is titled "Jesus Christ Looks Like Me."
Thanks, Smudge!
Like many Type O songs, Peter Steele wrote "Christian Woman" about one of his exes (this dude had been in some really weird relationships, like, doozies of epic magnitude, and as such, had a very dim view of romance. In this particular case, the woman in question used to require that the late Mr. Steele dress up as a priest prior to coitus and all the freakiness that would accompany it.)
Ahhh, Peter, we miss you!

I hate to tell you this: Robbie Fulks is my favorite atheist. Let’s say you’re my favorite atheist without a record deal.
PS: Where’d the goth come from, you heathen??????

I could totally get a record deal. If I could sing, or play an instrument. Totally.

@teamfreak16 — those aren’t requirements any longer. Haven’t you heard modern pop music???
