Back in the late 1980's, when I was on HUD my son's and I moved into a 3 bedroom ,1 bathroom rambler. It was a cute house, but needed some work. This was our second HUD home. On the back of the house which was fenced around in the back yard was a room starting to be built on. If was just the framework with a doorway place going outside.
Three days after we moved in and I gave my youngest son a bath the water didn't go down the drain!

I called the landlord and he said that my kids must of done it. In 3 days?
They were not there, they were with my mother while a friend was helping me move in!
The Plumber came and dug down in the tub and found lots of old stuff in the pipes! He said there is no way that anyone put this down here in the past 3 days. He got on the phone and told my landlord this and told him that he would be receiving the bill.
Trash days there were on Tuesday's and Thursday's and I had to take my trash cans and sit them near the curb.On Tuesday afternoon when I was at work and my boss was angry because I was not supposed to receive personal calls . The landlord told me that he had just gone by the house and took my trash can's back to the side of the drive way because a neighbor called and complained because I had not taken them in And that I was either going to have to change my work days and stay home on Tuesday and Thursdays or drive home on my lunch breaks and take the can's in then.
He said that I was already breaking the lease by becoming a menace to the neighborhood.
So I didn't have lunch two days a week and took a longer lunch time and lost money.
I noticed when I would come home that my neighbors in the sight of the front of my house trash cans were all still out.
That weekend I asked them all if they complained to him and all those people were at work.
I offered at my expense to get screen and a door and enclose the unfinished room. And that the screen can easily be removed. He said no that the neighbors will complain. LOL!
I was friends with the people that lived in one of the three houses behind me and I asked them what they thought of my plan and was told yeah that's better then looking at the an unbuilt room! I told the landlord that no one would mind and he said that the house was his son's dream home and he was not going to let me destroy it by doing that, lol.
A few months later my 5 year old son was in the hospital and I had to stay there with him for 2 weeks. I called the landlord and told him and he said that he would come out and bring my trash cans in twice a week. And I told him there was no use because there wouldn't be any trash because we were not home. Then one day he called me and told me that he was going to have to hire someone to mow the grass and I would have to pay.
When I got the bill it was $60!!!!!! And the only place where there was grass was the small front yard! The back yard was mostly dirt and a few patches of grass.
The next spring a squirrel came down the chimney and was running around the house. I called animal control and the man that came out was someone that I knew and he said that the owner needs to get a screen on top of the chimney. Again I spoke to the owner and he said no that if I wanted it I had to pay for it!
When it was time to give notice to move I called him and told him that I had decided that I was going to move. He replied," Good, we don't want to rent to you again because you are trying to destroy my son's dream home! A little rambler with no grass in the backyard is his dream home.
And the neighbors think you are a menace!
I talked to another neighbor up the street and he asked me if that man still owned the house and I said yes. He shook his head and he said a friend of his rented the house before me and he was treated badly too and that the start of that room on the back has been there for several years!

I never would have lasted as long as you did. That's a horrible landlord.

How rude he blames the clog on the kids.
That is crazy they made you take the garbage cans back in as soon as the garbage men picked them up. Here they come about 2am and I am not getting out of bed at that hour to take them back to the house.
What an awful landlord!
