Candy Canes have been around since the 17th century.A German immigrant brought the tradition of candy canes to the United States and candy canes did not always have stripes; they originally were just white , and the whiite represents the purity of Jesus Christ.

The Nursery monthly magazine noted them in association with Christmas in 1874,[10] and the Babyland magazine mentioned canes being hung on Christmas trees in 1882.

I don't know I will see if I can find out that information. Ok..........The Nursery monthly magazine noted them in association with Christmas in 1874,[10] and the Babyland magazine mentioned canes being hung on Christmas trees in 1882.

@dfollin Ah, so it has been quite a long time. I know that we have done it for many, many years. As a child it was my job to hang the candy canes. I ate some of them too!
