Candy Canes have been around since the 17th century.A German immigrant brought the tradition of candy canes to the United States and candy canes did not always have stripes; they originally were just white , and the whiite represents the purity of Jesus Christ.
Did you know that there are real health benefits from candy canes? The average size of a candy cane is 5 inches tall and that is 50 calories! Candy Canes do not have any fat or cholesterol. They aid in gastrointestinal discomfort, they ease headaches, relieve stuffy nose, curb hunger cravings, and of course freshens breath.
Wow! 1.76 billion candy canes are sold each year between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The Nursery monthly magazine noted them in association with Christmas in 1874,[10] and the Babyland magazine mentioned canes being hung on Christmas trees in 1882.

I wonder when people started to hang them on their trees?

@dfollin Ah, so it has been quite a long time. I know that we have done it for many, many years. As a child it was my job to hang the candy canes. I ate some of them too!
