The Glutton.

I swore, two or three years back, that I would never ever enter an Eat-All-You-Can Restaurant. My gluttonous consumption of food in these eating places are beast-like. The food is already up to the throat and you still help your self with more, just because you already paid for it. And the people in other tables wait for more helpings till the head waiter announces a one for the road.
Sigh. For one who has managed to stay away from excessive eating, gosh, human frailty has taken over me.
I didn't know that the invite I received was for a Tong Yang buffet. When I saw the 'grill the food your self' and shabu-shabu soup style, I was instantly delighted. A new experience for me.
I did let my friends do the grilling, and helped my self with the sea foods only. But then, all in all, I had six hakao, 6 shrimp tempura, two grilled shrimp, two roast beef, one sake shabu-shabu, pancit, fillet of fish, 3 spoons-full of ice cream (chocolate, coffee and ube), an inch of pudding, two rolls, a puto, and a cake.
Now, I am wondering how in my stomach did all that fit! Okay, the belly bump isn't that big but gosh, my cholesterol must have shot up.
The glutton deserves a punishment. Mortifying today by fasting.
This action must never be followed.

This reminds me of the time I was in Thailand to attend a forum, Ms.Eileen. We had an free day after several days of the forum so we went went around seeing the beautiful sights and went to an eat-all-you can for dinner in the evening. The price was 399 baht for the seafood and 299 for the meat and chicken. Since I and a female delegate of our group were both allergic to seafood, we chose the latter. It was raining outside and the restaurant's lights were dim and you had to get you seeafood or meat and grill them on your table yourself. The problem was that the tags of the meat were in Siamese so we did not know what kind of meat we were getting since it was dim. On the other table were our other companions (most of them men) and everyone had their plates full of the huge shrimps and other seafood so they had more than enough that they could eat all of what they took. What they did was to throw the rest under the table to avoid the penalty for leftovers. What a shame! As for me, I was hungry when we arrived at the condo unit lent to us and I pretended to go down to the 7 Eleven store to buy a bottle of water. Actually, I bought water and a big banana to fill my hungry stomach LOL!

Whooaa, that's a horrible experience. Sigh. Never been to Siam but I did know a few Thai way back and I know that they prefer some hot noodles with a chili for candy. Gosh, this eat-all-you-can is not a good eating idea. It's like the people who partake of the non-stop eating are much like the barbarians of old.

@sunrisefan Yup, hotel or microtel breakfasts are filling. Was the selection a Thai breakfast?

Another popular place to go are the Korean samgyeop restos they seem to becoming popular these days and they have been favorite places to go. I am into one this coming Friday and hopefully my tooth would cooperate with me since I just had tooth extraction yesterday and hopefully my gums are all healed and ready to rumble this Friday.

We have to eat when we have to eat. Please eat slowly. The consequences of overeating are very real.

A buffet is always fun and filling. Once and a while is OK.

I was careful about the food choices. Limited my self to sea food except for two one-inch slices of beef. Legs cramped. Hu hu.

That would be an experience, actually. But we Filipinos just tend to overeat.

@amitkokiladitya Our culture. If a guest doesn't partake of much food, that means the food we prepared are not good. Thus, we eat and eat and eat.

@renicemae I will, thank you. Spent the whole morning out in the garden, getting solar energy before the work-out.

It's quite tempting when you have a feast laid before you. I think once in a while we can afford to do that overeating. But yes, you have to have some strict diet and exercise to keep your cholesterol disciplined.

Learned my lesson mid year. I over ate and was confined to the hospital. I cannot risk my health any longer.

Almost did burst. Glad I didn't. I ate slowly. And we talked between gulps and masticating.

We started 11 am and up by 2pm. Long lunch - three hours, with dessert and singing Happy Birthday.
