That's OK! Our military should be commended everyday!
Last night when I was in another online group I was told that the western actor Neville Brand had come into second place with military awards for World War II behind the number one Audie Murphy who I said in another discussion.
Therefore I think I will tell you about Neville Brand, Neville is his birth middle name, he was born Lawrence Neville Brand on August 13, 1920 in Griswold, Iowa, USA. However due to his father's work he was raised in Kewanee, Illinois,USA
He enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard on October 23, 1939 as a Private in Company F, 129 Infantry Regiment. Neville L. Brand moved on as a Corporal enlisting in the United States Army infantryman on March 5, 1941.
He was trained for combat at Ft, Carson and was in action with Company B, 331st infantry of the 83rd Infantry Division (Thunderbolt Division) for World War II
Becoming a sergeant and platoon leader he was shot in his right upper arm on April 7, 1945 at the Weser River and almost bled to death.
He received the following awards Silver Star (3rd highest decorationof valor in the US military), Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 battle stars, 1 Oversears Service Bar, 1 Service Stripe and a decoration for Combat Infantry.
Brand went on to make movies about the army, westerns and more!
He was married three times, first to Jean Enfield (not sure when) but they divorced in 1955, second to Laura Rae Araujo in 1957. They too divorced in 1969. Then he married and they had 3 daughter's and remained married till his death.
Neville loved books and was a big reader. He had a collection of 30,000 books in his home in Malibu caught fire in 1978 and many of the books were destroyed.
Brand died from emphysema at Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento, California, on April 16, 1992, at age 71.
He was cremated, and his remains were interred in a niche of the Morning Glory Room at East Lawn Memorial Park in Sacramento. The niche is a small bookcase with a book shaped urn, with his name on the look a like binding![em]happy[/em

Interesting story. He was quite decorated. 30,000 books! Too bad they were destroyed.
