Woody Woodpecker Arrives in Chestnut Avenue

Norwich, England
December 18, 2019 10:05am CST
When we first moved here 20 odd years ago we had a lot of woodpeckers visiting the garden but in recent years they seemed to have disappeared. However, during the summer we did hear some in the woodland behind our house but yesterday we were lucky enough to have one climbing up our bare elder bush. We're hoping he was just looking for bugs that had burrowed under the bark rather than hammering away at the trunk of the bush but whatever he was doing, we're very glad to see him (and hopefully his family) back in Spixworth.

No, but we do have a small piece of woodland just beyond a meadow which is at the bottom of our garden and we have a small copse on some grazing land nearby.
