Ordered this online. Heard its a healthier alternative to rice. This is Adlai grains. Its similar to rice but it has more of the good stuff like dietary fiber, protein, and various minerals. Its also a low glycemic food so its a healthy source of carbs for diabetics.Gluten-free too. My mother is diabetic, I hope she'll like it and eat it instead of the usual white rice. You cook it as you do with rice. I just bought a kilo to try. This is more affordable than Quinoa, though Quinoa is also a super grain; its quite expensive.
Have any one here tried this Adlai grain or any similar grain?

I do not know anything about Adlai grain, but, do know about brown rice. Isn't brown rice healthier than white?

Haven't tried it yet. Just arrived yesterday. Says its taste is similar to that of a white corn so it must be okay I guess. I've tried black rice too and the other varieties, black, red and those organic ones.

@pitsipeahie if it tastes like white corn that's fine.

This is interesting. I never heard of this here in my place. Does it also taste like rice?

Its bland and has a grainy feel to it. We actually didn't like it. My mother told me not buy it anymore hehe. But I think it just takes a little getting used to it.

I have never tried it or heard of it. I am also a diabetic and so I use alternatives for rice. I use white millet that looks similar to this one. I am not sure if they are the same. I have white rice twice a week.

We haven't cooked it yet. Just arrived yesterday. But from what I read, its taste is similar to that of a white corn, slightly chewy with a firm bite like that of an al dente noodle. I'll update once I tried it. I'm looking for adlai recipes, so far most I've seen are salads, soups and grain bowls.
