The gap between the rich and the poor is getting bigger because of computers

I think the gap between the rich and the poor is getting bigger because of computers. People do not want to employ and pay people for a job that they can get a computer do for them more efficiently without asking pay. Therefore they make huge profits and incurr less expenses that require putting money into other peoples pocket. If the trend goes on like this I think we might reach a point where we have 2 percent rich and and 98 percent poor people. This is because it is only few rich who can afford the required capital to set up big companies and all that poor people can sell is labour, if that labour is not needed because the rich invest in robots and computers such as automated trucks, cars and industries where do the poor earn from?

Meh. I tend to disagree. Computers can't take over the jobs of construction workers, plumbers, chefs, musicians, sports players, daycare workers, doctors, lawyers, firefighters, police officers, mechanics, computer repair workers (ironically), postal delivery, garbage pick up, janitors... Now it may be that someday in the far future robots/AI might take over everything but until that day comes, people can concentrate on obtaining the above mentioned jobs and make pretty good money doing them.

Monty Python migratory swallows
@sharonelton I've been hearing that for awhile, too. Though there are some things a drone couldn't lift so I would assume people would still be needed to deliver larger items. For some reason this is reminding me of Monty Python: "A five ounce bird cannot carry a one pound coconut!"

I heard somewhere they were thinking of getting drones to deliver packages.

I agree. There are just too many people- oriented jobs out there. If times change society will change and adapt too.

Don't you think if you can sell your labour, isin't it you chanalise your labour where it is required. Like If the requirements of computer and robots are increasing then the labour required to make those machines and supporting these machines to run is also in demands.

The problem is even the computers are being developed to solve their own problems through machine learning. What this means is that very few people even with that technology will be able to get employed. A company that would have employed 5000 people may end up with just ten computer specialists.

You need to start small and then expand. A lot of today's millionaires started with a market stall or something like that.
