Thanks for the Evolving Technology

Technology has brought us always (I say) to the new height. But honestly, I’m not that tech-savvy and sometimes, I find it hard to try everything that is new to me. I’m also afraid to get embarrass. When I need to reload my prepaid card, I have two options to deposit the money in my account. One is to deposit over-the-counter but I need to secure first my priority number via Branch Electronic Terminal or BEA and the other one is through CAM (Cash Accepting Machine). CAM is ideal because it’s real time— that means your deposit will reflect directly to your account unlike the over-the-counter which would take two days before the actual deposit would be seen. To make it sure that I would not go wrong, I brought a copy with me the instructions given from their website on how the machine works step-by-step in making deposits. That is in case if I falter or would encounter difficulty with the instructions from the machine itself. Actually the instructions from their website have slight difference from the actual machine. Some instructions were no longer present in CAM. The machine’s instructions are even simpler. Although, CAM is not new to me because I already use this with my ATM deposit several years back but at that time, you need to put the cash in an envelope before inserting it to the cash slot unlike now that envelope is no longer in use. Overall, my transaction with CAM runs smoothly. Next destination for my other transaction of the day is to the telco. Thanks for the evolving technology. It makes our lives simpler and easier.

I consider technology as a gift from the heavens. It has countless of uses for our benefit. But unfortunately some people use technology in another way that was not intended by the inventors.

But soon technology might just make life harder for millions if regulations are not put in place. Imagine the number of jobs that are going to be lost in the next 10 years with the development of all sorts of robots and computer systems that do almost everything that the human does. The gap between the rich and the poor might keep on rising and the level of poverty will increase as more and more people begin to depend on charity.

I understood everything you wrote until I got to "put the cash in an envelope". What is cash?

The older version, you cannot directly insert or drop the cash in the slot or tray provided but instead the cash or money must be placed in envelope.

Technology is great, but with advancing technology the ethics of people are put to test. Things like privacy where the data mining business is thriving and government surveillance could end up causing ill. Imagine a situation where the government monitors everything you do. As we know some people in the government can even leak such information. I think as we celebrate technology we should also be taking caution.

This is true and it should be regulated to the fullest extent and a stiffer penalty to the violators must be imposed to prevent putting the lives of people to risk or shame.

Yes technology is there to help us. Initially there is slight bit of hesitation until we get used to it, then we get used to it. CAM is much simpler now.

You are right. When we get use to it, we're more comfortable that time unlike the first time.

I'm glad you're getting the hang of the new technology. I'm not tech-savvy either. I stumble my way through until I get the hang of it. By then it's time for something new in the tech world.

Yes, we should evaluate the pros and cons or look back if it's really fits to us.
