When my husband was alive and we just had our young daughter we applied to rent a basement in a house, but the kitchen was upstairs. We did not get a phone call back from them. Six months later the woman said that she didn't call back because the house caught on fire and her husband died. He was paralyzed from the waist down and was in his bed there was no time, he insisted that the wife take their mentally handicapped son outside and just wait for the firetrucks. Because of the boys mental situation he could not be left alone outside while she went back in. Sadly the firetrucks did not get there in time. The man burned to death in his bed while his wife and son watched! She said that only the top floor was destroyed and their car outside the house as well. She said the house was rebuilt, but her son was still with friends that cared for mentally disturbed people and that she was going to get him that weekend. And that she still wanted us to move in , we could still have the basement and that we could also use the spare bedroom upstairs so we could also keep her company in the evenings. We moved in and a few times she got phone calls from her family and they would yell at her so loud I could hear them across the room! I asked her if everything was alright and she said that her family is mad at her because she was from Iran and her husband was from another country and that he went to a Christian church and that she was raised Muslim. And the boy was going to be raised Christian and that she was going to a Christian church. As well they were mad because she was going to buried next to him a Christian that gave her a child that wasn't normal, that's what happens when your beliefs are wrong! She told me that if they ever come there they are not welcome. That Friday night she left to stay over night where her friends were that were keeping her boy and that she would see us tomorrow. She didn't come home. I tried to call her cell phone. The next morning we went to church and she was not there! When we got home I called around to hospitals and the police. I finally found her in a hospital! She had had a stroke and was in a coma. She needed to have surgery ASAP and they wouldn't let me sign for it even tho her family and her are estranged. I went into her rolladex and didn't know there names, but was looking for clues or call someone that might know who to call. I called someone that was her sister she said she couldn't come! I asked why she didn't have a car and she laughed and said no it will take me too long to get there. I asked her how far away was she and she said an hour!!!!!!!!!!! And of course I argued with the witch!!!!! And she just started laughing and said that she would call her brother and see if he would come, but she didn't think so. He called me I told him what was going on and he said that he would call the hospital. Later I called the hospital and they put one of her brother's on and I asked how she was and what was going on and he replied," It is none of your business" On Saturday he came to the house and brought another brother they told us that we had no right being in his sister's home and he was calling the police! I told him that we had a lease and he said that he wanted to see it. I explained to him that the Department of Housing just up the street had it and I would walk there on Monday and get it. He said no you present it now or I am calling the police! We had already paid one months rent and he said that we had not given him money. He said the only other option he would give us was that we sign a paper saying that we will be out of there on the following Saturday. I said call the police! My husband said no that he'd sign the paper!!!!!!!! They they told us that we were supposed to be renting the basement and I told him , that we had use of the spare bedroom and kitchen especially now when the basement had flooded. We brought most of our stuff upstairs and on the steps. He said he didn't care that we had to go in the water filled basement. The next day, the whole family came to do a day long prayer ritual for this woman , they suddenly cared for. But because we were Christian's we were not allowed anywhere in the house. We had to sit outside. One time they did let me take my daughter in to go to the bathroom. On Monday morning I called the police and they said if you had let us come then we would of laughed them out of the house! But since your husband signed that paper there is nothing we can do.
