The three heroes who rescued a dog named Charlie from an icy lake

I have always wondered why dogs like to take chances of running over icy waters since the chances of falling down into a lake that has thin ice can cause a near tragic event like what happened to a female dog named Charlie. Charlie managed to escape the grip of her owner at a dog park in Hamden Connecticut on Monday by running across a golf course before she ran into the thin ice of Lake Whitney when she fell through the ice. Three employees of the Lewis Tree Service heard the cries of Charlie as they decided to work together and rescue Charlie from passing away from drowning and freezing. The three gentlemen used a rope from the shore to the section where Charlie was struggling to stay afloat. One of the gentlemen managed to crawl on the rope to reach Charlie and get her out of the icy lake to safety. Charlie was taken to a local veterinary hospital to be treated for a minor injury to her paw that was injured when she tried to stay afloat by grabbing the ice on the lake. The good news is that Charlie will make a full recovery from her near death experience. What really amazes me of the employees of the Lewis Tree Service is that if another emergency that involves a dog struggling to stay afloat in the water or icy conditions, they would make an attempt to rescue the dog in a heartbeat. Now that is devotion to saving dogs in trouble.

I agree with you since a dog dying by jumping into an icy water is heartbreaking for anyone of us.

@Deepizzaguy Too bad George there are those that do not care about animals so not heartbreaking to all. I find it very heartbreaking but so glad Charlie was rescued.

I think I read about this one, I remember some type of beagle breed. Beagles are cool and what a cool name. Female's can be called Charlie. All Beagle's look like a charlie to me.

I agree with you since it would have broken my heart if Charlie had drowned in the frozen lake.

I hope that Charlie has learned her lesson to stay with her owner and not venture into frozen lakes since she dodged a bullet this time due to the three tree cutters who were in the area.

The three tree cutters did do a wonderful job saving Charlie from drowning in an icy lake by rescuing her by using their tools.
