1898 - Marie and Pierre Curie announce the isolation of radium.
1963 - Beatlemania begins in the United States with the release of I Want to Hold Your Hand and I Saw Her Standing There.
1963 - Jack Benny passes away. He was born in 1894 and was an American comedian, vaudevillian, radio, TV and movie actor and violinist. After many years as a radio and movie actor, The Jack Benny Program premiered on television in 1950 and ran until 1965. Benny was known for his deadpan expression, "Well!", acting like a miser and always saying that he was 39 years old.
