USPS driver saves packages from being burned in Kansas

To the best of my knowledge, since Sunday is an off day for employees of the United States Postal Service, it is kind of odd for a delivery driver to take packages on the days before Christmas.
However an unusual story that comes from Osawatomie Kansas is that one postal delivery driver was taken some packages on his delivery truck to be given out to his customers when a fire began on the front engine of his truck.
The driver stopped the delivery truck on the side of the road, most likely called the local fire department to report the incident when he attempted to put out the fire.
When putting out the fire failed, the delivery driver then went to the back of his delivery truck to remove the packages and place them on the side of the road.
Not to panic since another delivery driver would take the packages that were on the side of the road to their customers in time for Christmas.
The Osawatomie Fire Department were able to put out the fire. Even though the delivery truck was severely damaged, no one was hurt in the incident in Kansas.

That is not good news about the fire. Very good thinking to take the packages out and put on the side of the road so they would not get damaged. I am glad another driver would deliver the packages and glad the fire department could put the fire out. Glad no one was hurt also.

A truck that gets on fire is not good in which I agree with you.

I did not know that the USPS do make special deliveries on Sundays during the Christmas season.

@Deepizzaguy I'm not sure when they started it, but it's been a few years now.

@just4him I think I do remember a UPS Driver coming to my home to deliver a radio that I ordered through Amazon for Christmas a few years when it was on Sunday before Christmas.

The driver of the delivery truck is one very smart person to realize that his customers wanted their Christmas presents.

A truck can replaced. The gifts that were saved made his customers happy.
