Because some people have medical or financial issues or whatever reason some agencies provide free cell phones for these people. When I my foot was in a brace and I could barely get around I was told that I would get one to use. It came in the mail and I followed the directions to charge and set it up. The papers said I would get 200 minutes free per month. I was thinking that doesn't seem like alot, but maybe it is. After the phone had charged for 8 hours it did not turn on! So I sent it back with a letter explaining why. In about a week I received another phone. Charged it and it turned on!!!!!!!. The previous afternoon the hospital lad where I was supposed to go the next morning to get the MRI done on my foot had called me on my daughter's phone (lucky we happened to bump into each other at the store when she called me.)She called to cancel the test because Medicaid all of the sudden wouldn't approve it.She told me that I had to call Medicaid the next day to find out why. I called them to be told me that according to their rules. The doctor has to do treatment on my foot for 6 months and agree that when that time is up to do surgery on my foot. Then the MRI can be done on my foot a few days before the surgery. I asked, "What is she supposed to treat it for?" The woman said to me ,"I don't know, whatever she can think of because she has to treat you for 6 months." Then I asked," What if I don't need surgery?" " She has to agree to do surgery of whatever kind or you cannot have the MRI done!" That was the first time I had used the phone. I made my second call right a way to the doctors office. They put me on hold for the doctor to come to the phone. I told her what they said. And she was shocked! and replied,"That is exactly why so many doctors will not accept Medicad anymore!" She called them and called me back telling me how she told them that she could not do that because if she treated me for the wrong thing because she needs the MRI done for me to know what to do and they said sorry that's the rules. She also told them that she was not going to go to court for Mall Practice if something goes bad! When we hung up I checked my phone and I had 3 minutes left for 29 and a half more days! And my foot is in horrible pain and nothing can be done about it. The next month the phone worked one minute and not the next. Then it wouldn't work at all. I had to go stay with my mom for a short time, I called to tell them that the phone was not working again and to send me new one to my mother's house and they said they couldn't do that, only one phone per household and I was going to have to share her 200 minutes! A friend of mine lives in Florida and he went thru 5 phones in about a year because they kept all of the sudden not working. He only got 200 minutes a month too. A myLotter friend @sharon6345 mentioned in a discussion that she gets a free phone that gets 750 minutes up north! I was talking to my mother who has also had 3 phones break down on her and losing her contacts and she said maybe that is because up north where prices are higher. And I said, "What about my friend in Florida?" I talked to my friend in South Carolina today that get's a thousand minutes a month and can take her SIM card out and put it in a better phone cause her's broke too.

You certainly have your share of problems. I don't know anything about the phone thing. I think there must be something that can be done about your foot.

Yeah problems should be my middle name! Now I was told that I am on Medicare now and they might not do that to try. But I cannot even afford to go to the doctor or Medicare because I don't have full coverage.

@LindaOHio Medicare only pays 80 %. Medicade could pic up they other half plus the $135, ($144 in 2020) but they said I am not eligible because my check is more than $800 a month!

I have no idea why they wouldn't, but they told me and the doctor that and then sent it to me in writing 2 days later!
