The Family.

I sat alone in the front pew, my daughter couldn't join me for the early morning Sunday Mass, the moratorium at the OB-Gyn Department has rendered the residents busy. Thus when the Liturgy of the Word were being read, the readings taken from Sirach and an epistle of Paul to the Colossians, the Gospel about the Flight to Egypt, and every word bespeaks of the family, I was close to tears. My family is all away.
It is the Solemnity of the Holy Family today. We celebrate the feast of Joseph, the foster father, Mary, the Virgin Mother, and the Child Jesus, the Word Incarnate - the Holy Family exemplar.
The priest encouraged every one to love and care for the family, respect each other, enhance each other, embrace each other. In the seeming disillusion the confusing world offers, only the family could get us through.
For fathers, be like Joseph who kept the Mother and the Holy Son safe through Egypt. For the mothers, be like Mary, the Mother who cradled the Holy Son from the cold. For the children, be like the Lord Jesus, obedient and helpful to His parents.
May every one feel the love of the family from this day on.

What is the moratorium all about? I didn't understand why the residents are busy because of the moratorium.

Seniors graduating - last day on the 31st, freshies coming in. Residents are on duty-from duty schedule. No reprieve for the rest of the residents.

@Alexandoy The junior who becomes senior on the 1st of January, automatically becomes the senior responsible on the OR, should there be emergency cases. Ideally, the first day of the year must be quiet in the OB-Gyn, but interestingly, it's never ideal, always toxic. No one can let their guard down.

Luckily in India the family bondings are very strong! Though today we have nuclear family concept eveolving because of the working couple, we used to have a joint family system where father, mother, brothers, sisters even after the marriage used to stay together along with the grand parents! The respect for each other in the family used to be too much and it is still seen in the Indian family!

I love that culture of clan clinging. I was also reared by grandma, with my brothers and sisters, as our parents were away working. Our family welcome the whole clan on Christmas day - aunts, uncles, cousins, extended families and friends under our roof. I did love the merriment. The times now have called for alienation with one's family. The migration has separated the family.

My elder sister is affectionate, but the rest of my siblings, they are not expressive. But yes, they think about me because they send me gifts. And I love it. Ha ha. I love them, too, very, very much.

@rakski Yes, I know they remember me. But if they send more gifts, that would mean they really love me. (Joke) Actually, they take pity on me because I am not in America. But I have no desire to live in America. I belong to my native Philippines. I could nap here for three hours if I want to. My day is always stress free, except if I get caught in the road jam.
