It's 2 AM but I cannot sleep

United States
December 31, 2019 1:14am CST
Hello myLot, it's the middle of the night and I am still awake. I laid down around 11:30, hoping to drift off to sleep...but no such luck. I had too much energy, I think because I'm nervous about a new year starting. So I went for a late night walk. I grabbed my phone and some headphones to listen to peaceful music as I go. Seeing the crescent moon (like a big ol' toenail in the sky!) and the stars is very calming. It was honestly beautiful outside. There's a lake near my house that I like to walk to, just sitting there with the moon and the water and my music was pure bliss. I'm hoping that blissful feeling will help me sleep now as I lay back down in bed with my warm fuzzy socks. Is anyone else nervous for 2020? It can't just be me, right? Have you gone for a late night stroll? What were your experiences? Good night everyone, I hope you are safe and warm tonight. **picture from Pixabay

You stay safe dear Brenna..it must be a fairly safe area there. Not here I would not dare go out at night. Glad you got up instead of tossing and turning I hate that.

Why be nervous about the new year? Relax, take a deep breath and realize that everything is normal.

@isweartokira don't be anxious about the coming year. It would be great if you will look at it on a positive note.

What are you nervous about in the new year? Sorry you couldn't get to sleep. Your moonlight walk to the lake sounds very peaceful and calming, I hope it did the trick to help you fall asleep. I didn't get back to our hotel at Disney World until 3:00am, and by the time we all took our showers and changed, it was close to 4:00am before we went to bed. I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow!

@isweartokira I’ll let you in on a little secret...there are a few attractions at Disney where it’s dark enough that I can close my eyes and take a 5 or 10 minute cat nap. A few of those throughout the day helps me make it long into the night. You shouldn’t fear the unknown, but instead embrace it. I love the fact that I have no idea what’s ahead. It excites me to think about the possibilities!

I don't know...the unknown I guess? Mostly I'm worried that I'll waste another year. oof, I don't think I could do it, I'd be exhausted by then. I honestly get a little envious of the children sleeping and being pushed in their strollers around Disney, I need a nap halfway through the trip I hope you had a good Disney trip :)

I understand that nervous feeling about a whole new year starting, I get like that to but try not to think about it too much. I have never ever gone for a late night stroll, I am not too keen on the dark if I am honest!

@isweartokira Whatever works is best. My husband has been known to take walks at night, too. Glad you calmed down a bit. I find a new year as a new beginning in so many ways.

sometimes I turn to mylot too, or I'll watch a relaxing video on YouTube. but the walk was the only thing to help that night. I'm trying not to be so anxious about the new year but I've calmed down a bit :)
