Based on true events, "Open Water 2: Adrift" is a psychological horror film which was released in 2006. The movie was met with mixed reviews. It had a budget of $1.2 million and box office receipts of $6.8 million. CAST Susan May Pratt - Amy Alexandra Raach - Young Amy Eric Dane - Dan Richard Speight, Jr. - James Nicklaus Lange - Zach Ali Hillis - Lauren Cameron Richardson - Michelle Wolfgang Raach - Amy's Father This movie, sadly, is based on true events. High school friends Amy, James, Zach, Lauren, Dan and Dan's new girlfriend, Michelle gather in Mexico for a weekend cruise to celebrate Zach's birthday. Amy and James bring their daughter, Sarah. Amy is afraid of the water because of a childhood trauma and wears a life vest. Dan states that this is the first time he's taken out his new yacht. A few hours later Laura says she's hot and wants to go swimming. Dan hands out snorkel masks, knives and a blow-up dolphin. Amy hears the baby monitor and goes down below to take care of Sarah. Amy and Dan are left on the boat alone. Amy feeds the baby and then goes back up to the deck. Amy says that she's afraid of the water; and Dan picks her up and jumps into the water. It's shortly after that they realize that the boat's ladder hasn't been put down. If you want to find out what happens next, you will have to watch the movie. I've seen this movie a half-dozen times; and each time I yell to myself, "The ladder! The ladder!" It's really a powerful and painful film to watch. But for a careless mistake, this group could be safe and dry on board. The ending, for me, was a little confusing and left me wondering exactly what happened. Regardless, I wholeheartedly recommend this movie. Warning: There is brief nudity in this film. This movie is rated R. Photo Credit: PIxabay
