The Rise of The "Country" Boy Band

Most people (in the U.S. at least) are familiar with the pop boy band fad of the 1990's (with acts such as N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, and the like.) There has however, been a rise in "country" boy bands. I originally put country in quotes because I use it very loosely in this post. Now I'd like to say the "country" boy band is a totally new thing, but if I had to pinpoint where it actually started, I'd say bands like slicked up, "spit and polished" Rascal Flatts starting all the way back in 1999. Now, I'm all for musical experimentation, and they even luck into some decent music at times. I'm not however, for following after shallow fads, or taking cues from some record label image group at the expense & sacrifice of heart and soulful tradition, which is what I feel the "country" boy band movement has largely done.

I don’t really go by fads, but by talent!

I'm not a country fan; but I did like some of the boy bands back in the day like the Backstreet Boys.
