Rock Love, Day 2: The Look of Love

More love from the world of rock and roll! Along with 45 country songs, I’m counting down to Valentines Day with 45 songs from rock (pop, R&B, etc.) that have “love” or some variation in the title. While the country songs are stuck in a time before my parents were even married, today’s rock love ditty is a little more current. The Look of Love - ABC Ah, those magical 80s. I’m telling you, the early 80s were terrific years for music, with the new wave, “roots rock” (the genesis of what’s now called “Americana”), and even “mainstream” rock hadn’t gotten too annoying. The early days of MTV gave us actual music videos on the channel; and, as videos weren’t mandatory nor ubiquitous at the time, they’d play just about any video they could get their hands on. That’s not saying the videos and the music were bad. No, no. England’s great band ABC got its break in America on MTV thanks to cute and clever videos to back terrific songs like “Poison Arrow” and this, probably their biggest hit. Such a great song, bringing back great memories of a great era in music.
