Unusual Fruits You Should Try

United States

Have you ever tasted these unusual fruits? There are many tropical fruits that we consider as unusual fruits since they are so scarce and are not always available in supermarkets. So, you have to buy them at some ethnic supermarkets or groceries (they often carry those fruits but those fruits are not always available). Some unusual fruits that I have ever tasted are Durian and Rambutan. Durian is sweet, yellowish and soft inside but you should be careful when peeling and opening its fruit. Its outer is sharp like nails with greenish or yellowish colors. Some people said that they did not like its smell (it is like garbage). Rambutan fruit is white and sweet. Unlike Durian, you don't have to worry about peeling it because its red outer is just hairy. What kind of unusual fruits have you ever tasted? I believe that there are many fruits around the world that I would like to know and try. Let me know which weirdest fruit you have ever tasted or seen. Do you have picture of it? If you like fruits, you should also consider to have fruit bowls. There are some unique fruit bowls that can be conversation starters during party or meeting with your guests. One of the fruit bowls I really like is Pineapple Alligator Shaped Head Bowl. The bowl is a mix between Pineapple Fruit and Alligator Shaped Head.

Rambutan is my #1 favorite fruit followed by durian. I eat pineapple but not so much.

I've never tried it with ice cream but that's an interesting idea.

Yes, Rambutan is also my favorite one. I can mix it with ice creams and other fruits.

According to your image, I like durian. When I was a child, I didn't like it at all. Then one day I found it didn't taste awful any more. Instead I started to like tasting it. But in my family my dad, husband and son don't like durian, this is why I don't buy it as I don't want to eat it alone

You can buy a durian cake though. It is a cake with some durian taste on it. Maybe, your dad, husband and son like a durian cake so that you don't have to eat alone anymore :-)

@WackyDecor - I like variety. But mainly I pick food topics, sometimes health, cultural or lifestyle topics and if something happens to strike my fancy. Like I might read a headline or an article title and it sparks a thought in my head.

That's good if you have a such talent just by reading a headline or an article you can then spark a thought to write another article.

Rambutan and durian is abundant in our place when they are in season. There is a technique in peeling durian just look for that line and you start from there using a the sharp edge of the knife and the fruit will naturally open up.

I have tried durian and rambutan, but I don´t specially like them. Here maracuja is now very in but I don´t like it either. Give me a mango or a cherimoya for a tropical fruit.
