Meeting Gareth Gates.

I can't go anymore because I haven't got anyone to take me, but I used to go up to the Abundant Life Church in Bradford, England, sometimes just for the Sunday, and sometimes for a Rocknations Youth Conference that usually lasted 3 or 4 days. I remember the first Rocknations I went to in 2002. That was the year I met Gareth Gates. Gareth is a British pop star who came second in TV's Pop Idol competition in 2001. His home Church was the church in Bradford. I remember I was in what could be described as the churches foyer. They had like a reception area at the front and then you went out into a car park and then to the main meeting hall at the back. Anyway I was sitting in this foyer or reception area at a table and I heard some girls saying that Gareth Gates was here, outside in an area by the car park that was grassed and was used for playing football. Anyway I went out there all cool like and slowly made my way to where Gareth was. He was standing talking to a guy I had befriended earlier in the week called Danny so I went and stood by Danny. I heard Gareth talking to Danny about a suit he wanted a friend of theirs to make for him and he was thinking of having one made in lime green! Euh! No! I said. Not lime green! Anything but that! Then Danny said to me, Oh, you haven't met Gareth, have you, and I said no. So then I shook hands with Gareth and I remember thinking what big hands he'd got! They were massive. Anyway then this big hefty fellow (who was an ex football hooligan who had got saved and changed his ways) who was acting as Gareth's bodyguard came up and tried to move me along! I said I'm talking to my friend, and he said who's your friend, and I said Danny, your my friend, aren't you? And he said yeah, and then the bodyguard said OK and moved away. Then I said, Of all the nerve! And then I looked across at Gareth and he was laughing his head off! I'm glad you thought that was funny! I said. Anyway then Gareth went off to play a bit of football. On another time at the Abundant Life Church I almost met Rick Wakeman in the car park. I was too shy to go up and speak to him though, so I just walked past.
