I have to give my admiration for Laura Seymour who showed compassion for the welfare of her next door neighbor's dog that was living a terrible life by being chained to a fence outside of her owner' home in Virginia. Laura became great friends with the next door neighbor's dog by feeding her next door neighbor\s dog water and food in her bowl for a period of one year. Laura had to make two calls to the animal control center to report the terrible conditions that the Takia breed was living by staying outside 24 hours a day tied to a chain. On the second try to have the dog released from living with her previous owner, the animal control officials ordered the abusive order to surrender the dog and allow Laura to adopt the dog that she named Akita. Akita is now living in Laura's home a very happy camper since Akita like any other animal or human, responds positivity to being loved. As for the fate of Takia's previous owner, I just hope that person is never allowed to own a dog again since dogs deserve to live in a loving home and not being chained outside.

I agree. That's terrible treatment for any dog and I'm glad she was forced to surrender the dog so Laura could adopt it and give it a loving home.

It breaks my heart to learn that some dogs are mistreated that way.

@just4him Dogs and cats should be treated like a best friend. Not a punching bag.

I reported a family that kept their dog chained outside in the rain and snow without a dog house. I'm glad Laura got possession of the dog.

What a great thing she did. So many animals are mistreated.

It is a shame that many animals get mistreated by mean owners.

There are so many homeless dogs out there and yet people will pay thousands to a puppy mill for a 'breed'! ARGH

It is a shame that homeless dogs are not adopted more frequently.
