Day 155
Promise 205
Psalm 37:3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those who wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
What kind of person are you? Are you faithful, loyal, dependable, a person people can rely on in a pinch?
David didn’t consider the type of person he was, but rather who God was and what he needed to do to gain God’s favor. He showed six things you need to do to receive God’s blessing and favor.
1. You need to trust God.
2. You need to delight yourself in God.
3. You need to commit your way to God.
4. You need to rest in God.
5. You need to cease from anger and forsake wrath.
6. You need to wait on God.
How do you trust someone you don’t know? How can you delight in them or commit yourself to their cause? How can you rest in them or not become angry when things don’t go the way they should? How do you wait patiently for anything?
It’s hard to trust people because people will always fail you at one point. You soon realize the only person you can trust is yourself, and even you fall short when circumstances are beyond your control.
However, if you’re a Christian, you know God never fails in any of His promises. You can trust Him to do what He said He’ll do. He has never once broken a promise. You can take delight in who He is because He is a God who loves and cares for His people, for you. Knowing that makes it easy to commit yourself to Him. Your commitment brings peace and security in the knowledge God will never fail you. Then you can remain calm and cast anger away from you and wait for Him to take care of what you can’t.
Have you taken these six steps to trust and believe God to take care of you?
Let’s pray: Father, help me trust, delight in, and commit myself to You. Let me rest on Your promises and find security in Your unfailing love. Bring calm to my life and help me wait patiently for you. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
