"Plan 9 From Outer Space" is a science fiction horror film that was released in 1959. It was written, directed, produced and edited by Ed Wood. In 1980 this film was awarded 2 Golden Turkey Awards for the Worst Director Ever and the Worst Film. "Plan 9" is just one of Ed Wood's movies that has a cult following. Several people are gathered around a grave for a funeral of an old man's wife. The old man is led away; and the others follow. As the gravediggers begin their job, a plane passes overhead, heading for Burbank, California. The pilot, Jeff Trent, and co-pilot, Danny, are talking. Suddenly they see a flying saucer. (Please note the technologically advanced flying saucers in the trailer.) It heads toward the graveyard and lands. The gravediggers see a vampire woman coming toward them. A scream is heard off-camera. I'm a connoisseur of bad movies...especially science fiction movies. I like the ones that are so bad that they're good. "Plan 9" is one of those movies. Ed Wood always had a ragtag group of actors, a small budget and lofty aspirations for his movies and himself as a director. Wood was a "use-the-first-take-and-done" type of director. The first takes always looked good to him..and so did his actors. He often used stock footage to fill in the gaps in his movies.
