Into The Lion's Den is a cozy mystery written by Sarah Biglow, the author I consulted with on my first chapter. I felt if I were in contact with her I should at least read one of her books. She writes Cozy Mysteries, Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. Of those my choice was definitely cozy mystery.
The cozy mystery books Sarah Biglow writes are novellas. This book was only 70 pages long with very short chapters. You could read it in one sitting. In fact I almost did. If you have read my previous reviews you know I love easy reads, short chapters.
This novella was a little too short for me, but filled the gap between books. The little mystery was wrapped up pretty quickly and there were no big twists and turns that made the story drag on.
If I were to write the synopsis on the back of the book here it would be almost the length of the book
. The sleuth in this story is Reverend Margot Quade, a former military chaplain. She is invited to dinner at the family home of a friend from the battlegrounds, Derek, who suffers with PTSD. When she arrives it is apparent an argument has been occurring causing Derek's uncle to leave the room. Margot finds him dead a short time later.
Margot inserts herself into the investigation because a) Derek is a friend and b) the cop on the case is her cousin, though her cousin does not want her interfering with the investigation.
That's all I'm going to say. It was a quick read. Good for a rainy afternoon, or an hour.
Enjoy with a cup of your favourite warm beverage.
