Wednesday morning I woke up with a sore throat, but it was gone by the time I went to bed. Fast forward to Friday morning when my throat is raw, and my voice is a whisper. My doctor only works a half day on Fridays so I knew she couldn't see me. In addition, Urgent Care does not take my insurance, so I had to go to the ER. By some miracle there was only one person there to be treated besides me. That never happens! Turns out I had a fever, laryngitis, and an ear infection. My dad had taken me there himself because sometimes they won't treat someone if they don't have a ride (obviously I don't mean people who are shot and the like). The next day, I text my dad something. He returns my text by calling me, but my voice is barely audible, and he says, "I can't hear you!" I'm straining for him to hear me, repeating to him I have laryngitis, and he needed to text instead of call. I saw him today, and we were laughing about it. His brain must have misfired because talking to a laryngitis patient gets you nowhere.

It sounds uncomfortable. I went to the ER once with an ear infection because it was hurting quite a bit..and hadn't been earlier when I could have gone to the doctor. I would have waited until the next day, but I had a presentation to do in the morning, and knew I couldn't have slept with it.

So sorry for laughing at your illnesses and hope you are feeling much better now. I used to get horrible laryngitis every year when I taught school. Back then, I had to call the substitute line to request a substitute teacher for me. They couldn’t even hear my name, so my husband gave them all the information. When I finally returned to school after being on meds, it was the talk of my school system. Ear infections are the worst! I only had the beginning of one once in my life. I thought my ear would explode!

That must have been quite frustrating. And, it's always okay to laugh at me! I'm much better, thanks.
