Psalm 37:28 For the LORD loves judgment, and forsakes not his saints; they are preserved forever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
Close your eyes and let your mind look back on the people you know. Are they good or bad?
David said the LORD loves judgment and will not forsake His saints. His saints will live forever. However, He will destroy the wicked.
Who are saints?
Romans 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV)
1 Corinthians 1:1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV)
2 Corinthians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:
2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV)
If you are a Christian, you are a saint. Paul wrote his letters to the saints, followers of Jesus Christ. You can’t write letters to dead people.
David called God’s chosen people who followed God’s laws and trusted Him, saints. He said those people would live forever. God would preserve them.
1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
However, David also said God would cut off the wicked.
1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. (KJV)
Scripture is clear about who will receive eternal life and who won’t. What kind of lifestyle do you lead? Do you trust in and believe the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord? If so, you are a saint, and eternal life belongs to you and God will take care of you and provide everything you need. However, if you don’t believe, God will cut you off and you will be separated from God for eternity.
You have a choice. You can choose today to live for Jesus Christ and accept Him as your Savior and Lord, or you can reject Him.
Paul went on to tell the saints they weren’t always saints but were just like those who didn’t believe.
1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. (KJV)
None of us is perfect. We all need salvation. It is our choice to believe or not.
Let’s pray: Father, let Your Word fill me to overflowing. Let Your love dwell in me. Let me show You to the world so they will know You and the love You have for them. Let them choose life, Lord, not separation from You for eternity. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
