A hunting we will go!

I haven't posted for a bit.
Mainly because it's my hunting season. No, not for wild-game, but for arrowheads.
We live in the center of the US where there are plenty of artifacts to be found.
But, there are a few rules we follow. 1. No trespassing we get permission if we hunt on someone else's land. 2. Never dig. Be respectful if it isn't visible to the naked eye then it is not meant to be found. Yet. 3. You are out in the elements. Mind your surroundings, or you might end up mountain lion dinner. Or at the very least you could walk off a hidden cliff. 4. Even if you don't sweat or get hot drink plenty of water. As a follow-up, anything we carry in we carry out (ie. trash).
My hubby and I have contests with a couple of different groups some on Facebook and some of our in-person friends.
It is a cool experience to find one. I love the different markings and the different techniques and shapes they are made of and from.
And we try to imagine what certain ones were used for. Some places there will be a lot out in the field. Just laying on topsoil. These times get our imagination stirred. Wondering why so many perfect tips are found in one spot.
Alas, the mud has me benched for today so I just get to study the maps and tell you all how much we enjoy it and wish we could be out today.

That is cool. I never find anything but small common fossils.

did my second pic post? I can not see it. Ok great. These are better finds. I couldn't get to them this morning. But you can see an actual arrowhead here.

Yeah there aren't many places in this world that on Christmas folks are out riding four-wheelers wearing t-shirts then turn around and break out the big coats for New Year. I'm kinda partial to it. And this is just Missouri nothing to do with global warming.
