Humanitarian Day National Pothole Day (UK) 1870 - A political cartoon symbolizing the Democratic party with a donkey is published for the first time. 1889 - The Coca-Cola Company, then known as the Pemberton Medicine Company, is incorporated in Atlanta. 1929 - Martin Luther King, Jr. was born. He was an American minister, activist and Nobel Prize laureate. He was a leader in the civil rights movement in the United States from 1955 until his assassination in 1968. King advanced civil rights through nonviolence and civil disobedience. He helped organize the 1963 March on Washington at which he delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech.
